I just got my Vega Board (thank you very much for sending one to me!). I immediately jumped to the getting started videos which mention that you need a J-Link debugger to program the board. I thought that was a little silly since this is a development board, so I dove into the schematics and the user guide which mentions that there’s another OpenSDA MCU that “bridges serial and debug communications between a USB host and an embedded target processor,” and has DAPLink firmware on it that is supposed to support “drag-n-drop” programming (a cool thing that I’ve never heard of before). When I connect the Vega Board over USB on the J12 connector, I get a RV32M1 filesystem to pop up (just as the DAPLink documentation describes), but I can’t seem to get the “drag-n-drop” or the serial upload functionality to work.
Can I have some guidance with the OpenSDA upload process? Or do I really need a J-Link debugger? What’s the point of the OpenSDA MCU then?
Thank you to whoever can answer these questions.
