Classic ski bike

There are three basic types of ski bikes. The classic ski bike is modeled after the original Brenter design. There are also three-ski models and freestyle models, which were popularized by mountain bikers and motocross riders. The Brenter ski bike is considered to be the first downhill mountain bike. It has a low center of gravity, and is designed to be ridden seated. This type has a saddle for the rider, and footskis that attach to the binding or attachment on the skis.

The fork is also a key factor of a ski bike. The fork offset is placed at the rear. This makes the bike feel more like a cruiser, which decreases the steering feedback. The S.L.A.T ski trike mimics advanced skiing techniques with its hexagonal-shaped pivoting components. Developed by SNO-GO, the S.L.A.T ski trike is recognized by the PSIA-AASI and offers lessons, rentals, and tours in US mountains. Its three skis help it follow the contour of the mountain, keeping all edges in contact with the snow.

The SNO-GO ski trike has patented technology called Synchronized Lateral Articulating Technology, which enables rear skis to articulate like those of a parallel skier. It is lightweight and combines all motor functions into one step. Unlike traditional ski trikes, it provides additional steering control and is accepted at more than half of U.S. ski resorts. It has been a favorite among ski resorts and snow boarders alike.
