What is an Activist? Well, they can be individuals or corporations, groups or associations. Often times, when people think of Activists they think of groups such as environmentalists, labor unions and pro-commerce groups. However, there are many other types of Activists. One of the most interesting would be the self-styled “self-starter, individual entrepreneurs” that often do not necessarily belong to any group.

There are three schools of thought about what makes a person an Activist. The first is from institutional investors. magazine are usually wealthy individuals who have given money to non-profit organizations in the past and want to ensure that these groups continue to be successful. Activist shareholders are those that give money to charities in order to help these organizations succeed.

There are many advantages to supporting nonprofit investor groups and nonprofit shareholder activism. First, magazine guarantees that the projects and practices of these groups are ethical and not simply based on profit. In addition, it helps to show that the investors are concerned with social impact and are willing to take their fiduciary duty to the company in question. Lastly, public companies can become more transparent and this will increase trust in the company. Many people will also be able to make a better decision about the products and services offered by a company that is owned by a large non-profit organization.

While not all nonprofit investors are activists there are many different types of them. Some are venture capitalists. magazine are firms that do not invest directly in a public company but instead work with private equity firms to help them achieve a public offering. Often times, a venture capital firm will provide seed money for a private equity firm that has the desire to raise a large amount of money for their business. The role of the angel investor is to provide a significant amount of funding that is necessary for the business to grow and see success.

Other types of activists are direct equity stakeholders. magazine are direct individual shareholders who are interested in the success of a particular company or cause. This is in contrast to the general purpose of funding which is to provide money to help a company excel at its business. Some of the direct stakeholders who may have an interest in what is an activist shareholder are the employees of the target company and also the customers who purchase a certain amount of stock.

An additional type of activist shareholder is an individual investor who participates in a campaign or association activity on behalf of the cause or company. Some of these types of activist shareholders are actually companies themselves, which do not want to see a change in their ownership structure. In the past, individual activists would go against the wishes of the company’s Board of Directors in order to have their demands respected. However, now-a-days many companies are using what is an activist shareholder as leverage against the company’s management in order to receive the desired change.

Activist investor tactics can also come in the form of what is referred to as the buy-sell club. magazine is made up of a specific number of people who make it a point to buy a certain amount of shares of stock each and every day. This has been likened to the investment club known as the investment club in the stock market. These groups generally meet once a week for a specific amount of time. They discuss what are the activist investor tactics and what is going to affect the target companies’ stock price. Often times they meet in person but it is possible that they meet online as well.

There are other forms of what is an activist investment group. One of these is called the Nasdaq OMX Investor Service. This group provides information to clients of the various activist investments including Nasdaq. Other than NYSE and AMEX there are also similar online resources such as Yahoo!
