Poker (a card game or hand game) is a traditional card game with its roots in the ancient city of Rome. It is a combination of ancient Greek plays “punts” and “spearfish”. In the Roman games, the players dealt four “ces” (the original) face-down on the table in the middle of them. Players were looking at each other, and the player with the hand with the highest number of cards could keep his cards. This was referred to as “tournament poker” because the winning player had to stay in the game until someone else got to remove a “queen.”
